European governments can reconsider their use of American technology and services, according to A new report in the New York Times.
The Flashpoint seems to come after President Donald Trump Karim Khan, the main prosecutor at the International Criminal Court, has sanctioned, about the ICC’s decision to give arrest gives for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant.
In response, Microsoft has disabled Khan’s E -mail address. Casper Klynge, a former diplomat who also worked for Microsoft, said the NYT that Microsoft’s action “became the smoking gun that many Europeans were looking for,” pushed them to look at alternative options. (Some ICC employees are reportedly switched to the Swiss E -mailserviceproton.)
“If the American administration goes after certain organizations, countries or individuals, the fear that American companies are obliged to satisfy,” said Klaynge.
For his part, Microsoft said that it made policy changes to protect customers comparable situations, and it noted that it did not close the E -mail accounts of four ICC judges that Trump sanctioned earlier this month.
