One day after he had shot and killed a beloved father and experienced mail worker on the Stevenson Expressway near the center of Chicago, Angel Reyes tried to sell the murder weapon, the prosecutors said.
It is 13 months since a shooter killed 41-year-old Damian Dunning when he rode on March 3, 2024 around 10:15 am near the Expressway junction with Lake Shore Drive. Since then, the researchers of the Illinois State Police have meticulously have a casedi-culined who culminated with Reyes’ arrest.
The shooter shot different shots on the car of Dunning, and some bullets fell off the windshield of a witness.
Prosecutors said that the telephone details of the 24-year-old placed him in the shooter’s vehicle. Researchers also found videos on Reyes’ phone that showed him at the time of the incident with the murder weapon, said civil servants.
The next day, said prosecutors, Reyes tried to sell the firearm.
In February, ISP agents tried to stop a car where Reyes drove, but the vehicle rushed away. The agents finally gave Chase and Reyes from the car and ran away, but he was arrested a few minutes later, according to ISP. The agents would have found an AK-48 rifle in the car where he ran and prosecutors accused him of a heavy possession of a weapon.
Researchers kept working on shooting on Expressway and ultimately collected sufficient information to submit costs in the death of Dunning.
Judge Susana Ortiz held Reyes on a count of murder in the first degree.
