Father kidnapped his own 2 months old, threw her over a fence during an escape attempt: prosecutors
Nickolas Watts (Chicago Police Department)

A 19-year-old father was imprisoned for accusations that he abducted his two-month-old baby and threw her over a fence in Edgewater.

Complaints said Nickolas Watts had a fight with his child’s 18-year-old mother at the Granville Red Line Station around 12:23 Friday.

During the fight, Watts reportedly grew the girl of her pram, making the argument physical, said civil servants. Prosecutors claim that Watts got away after he had kicked the woman in her face.

Witnesses told that the Watts police threw the baby over a fence and then jumped over to continue his escape. The police recovered the baby and arrested Watts around 12:44 pm in the 1000 block of West Glenlake.

Officials said the baby is recovering from fractures received during the incident.

Judge Sabra Lynne Ebersole held Watts at the request of the State.

Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth (48th) said that Loyola University Police CPD helped with the first 911 call.

Last April, the Calumet City Watts police arrested on a domestic battery charge after the same woman claimed that he had beaten her, according to public registers. Prosecutors dropped the case when the woman did not appear in court a month later, according to court reports.
