The FBI says this man has robbed three banks in the Loop since mid-September. (FBI)

CHICAGO — If you’re a bank robber, you know you’ve made it when the FBI starts referring to you by a catchy nickname. There was Baby Face Nelson. And Pretty Boy Floyd. And now we have the ‘Bare Chested Bandit’. That name isn’t nearly as cool as its more famous predecessors, but he’ll have to live with it.

On Tuesday afternoon he robbed his third bank since mid-September in the Loop.

On Tuesday just before 4 p.m., he robbed Citibank, 100 South Michigan. The FBI said he passed a note to the teller and “made a violent threat.” On September 16 and 19, he robbed the Citibank at 180 North Michigan.

The agency said the man changed clothes while escaping on the CTA, sometimes going shirtless.

Investigators believe he is 30 to 40 years old and about 6 feet tall.

CWBChicago was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had become discouraged by the inaccurate information presented during local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has since expanded to Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original public safety reporting with better context and more detail than mainstream media. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
