Chicago-a man who escaped from electronic monitoring to a 92-year-old man at a West Side ATM has received a 12-year prison sentence.
D’HARCO ROBY, 27, was conditional for the arms shops in September 2022; The police officers of Chicago said he had dropped a firearm while he ran from them in Englewood. He remained in custody in a class X crime gun until February 2024. That is when Judge Laura Ayala-Gonzalez, who rated his conditions under the SAFE-T law, sent him home on a single monitor, appears from court reports.
Within a few months he was missing after he had not returned to the house where he should live on house arrest.
It didn’t take long before he appeared again. In less than four weeks, Roby and an unknown accomplice saw a chance when they crossed paths with a 92-year-old man who moved in money from a citizen in Citgo, 251 West 63rd Street. Prosecutors said Roby hit the older man in the face and the body, hit him on the floor and “violently” took his wallet.
The Chicago police arrest Roby within a few hours to be confronted with accusations of theft and escape from electronic monitoring.
Now Roby has solved all three pending crime matters: he pleaded guilty of a lesser accusation of a criminal in possession of a firearm in the weapon shop and guilty of theft of a victim older than 60 for robbing the 92-year-old. Officers of Justice dropped the escape tax that he was confronted with.
Judge Ayala-Gonzalez gave him eight years before the gun levy and judge Ursula Walowski sentenced him to four years before the theft case, according to the court reports. Those sentences, served successively, will be reduced by 50% for good behavior. He is expected to be conditionally conditional in October 2028.
Records show that Roby has two previous convictions because they are a criminal in possession of a firearm, both in 2018.
