Affectionate bear cubs, a lion-hearted discussion and a gecko grin are just some of the giggle-worthy finalists in this year’s edition Nikon Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards. From nearly 9,000 entries from photographers in 98 countries, judges selected 40 entries for the final round, highlighting a wide range of mammals, amphibians, fish and birds around the world.

Co-founded in 2015 by professional photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullamto, the competition combines nature photography with the powerful positivity of humor to help promote conservation across the planet.

Browse the finalist gallery on the competition page websitewhere you can also cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award until October 31. The winners will be announced on December 10 and can be seen for a week, from December 10 to 16, in Gallery@Oxo in London.
