A Florida medical clinic is preparing to pay affected individuals a total of $10 million in a proposed class action settlement.
The clinic has agreed according to the official settlement website regarding claims related to a data security incident.
The lawsuit was filed because the clinic had failed to adequately protect sensitive patient data.
Plaintiffs accused the provider of inadequate security measures that led to the incident discovered in February 2024.
The complaint alleges possible unauthorized access to personal information of notified individuals, and class members include those who have received breach notices and may be eligible for cash payments.
The settlement is non-reversionary, meaning the money goes to the class after deducting costs.
The defendant denies liability, and eligible people must have filed claims by the deadline to receive benefits.
