A six -time convicted criminal was arrested at least the 66th time in his adult life, charged with stealing packages from an apartment building in Lincoln Park. He is also on pretial release for alleged stem packages from the same building last fall while on conditional release for stealing packages in Lakeview.
Errick Shambley, 55, now has two crime breaks in anticipation.
Last September, civil servants said that Shambley has stolen packages from two inhabitants of a building in the 2900 -block of North Halsted. Chicago Cops arrested him about two months after the burglary when the real estate manager of the Shambley building saw at a nearby Starbucks and a passing patrol truck. Records show that Shambley has been accused of stealing packages in the 2900 -block of North Halsted at least three other times since 2018.
After his arrest in September, the State withdrew its conditional release (also for stealing packages during a burglary), and he returned to the Correctional Center of Stateville. He was back on the street within a few weeks because his earlier prison sentence expired.
Earlier this month, the same construction manager called a patrol car to have Shambley arrested in September 911 to report that Shameery was in Breken in the same apartment building in the 2900 -block of North Halsted, says a CPD report.
The police arrested Shambley in the neighborhood and accused him of a burglary of January 20 in the building. He reportedly stolen a package from the mailroom with a bottle of alcohol -free gin.
Judge Ankur Srivastava held Shambley to violate the conditions of the Pretial Release in the September case. Shambley will be in prison until the beginning of March when he owes the court again.
His most recent imprisonment was for breaking a building in the 3300 block of North Ashland. Public Prosecutors said that he presented himself as a Amazon -employee and the buzzers of the building called until someone let him in.
The police arrested Shambley in 2019 after he had identified him as the burglar who is responsible for package thefts from the 2900 -block of North Racine and the 1100 block of West Wolfram during Christmas 2018. The police also accused him of stealing three packages A building in the 2900 block of Noord Halsted (surprise!) The last summer.
Shambley received a 60-day prison sentence in September 2018 for stealing packages from the 2900-block of Halsted (!) And the 3700 block of North Bosworth. That year he also received a probationary period for stealing a package from the 800 block of West Buckingham.
His earlier prison sentences include a few 2-year penalties for theft in 2016, 3 years for burglary in 2007, a year for drugs in 2005 and three years for the production of a regulated substance in 1994.
