Australians are spoiled when it comes to buying a factory-held full-size US pick-up in 2025.
In addition to the well-known Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Toyota has finally made the Tundra available for the masses after performing a long-term development program and ownership test.
Furthermore, RAM came out with an updated version of the best -selling 1500, although the absence of a V8 under his large hood will certainly generate some controversy among fans of the American muscles.
Chevrolet is now the only manufacturer that still offers a V8 -pick -up, making the baby Silverado a unique proposition.

But it cannot fully compete with rivals from the point of view of efficiency, if that is a priority for potential buyers.
That said, this quartet of pickups is separated by much more than engine specifications. From interior functions to maintenance costs, there is enough to distinguish each model in this growing market.
That raises the question – how do they relate to paper? And what promises the best value for money?
Here we compare the basic variants of each of the four players in the segment, all of which are converted locally into right station, three from Walkinshaw Automotive.

Praise
There is a significant price gap between the entry variants of each model, where almost $ 50,000 separates the F-150 XLT SWB and Tundra Limited. The Ford is the cheapest with a wide margin, although there will soon be more affordable versions of the Facelifte My25 RAM 1500.
Model | Price for on-road costs |
---|---|
2025 Ford F-150 XLT SWB | $ 106,950 |
2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium | $ 130,500 |
2025 RAM 1500 Laramie Sport | $ 141,950 |
2025 Toyota Tundra Limited | $ 155,990 |
Powertrain and efficiency
As mentioned earlier, the Silverado is the last remaining V8-pick-up in Australia after the shift of the RAM 1500 from 2025 to a downsized 3.0-liter Twin-Turbo Recht-Six. The F-150 and Tundra use V6S and nobody offers diesel power.

The tundra is unique because it uses a mild hybrid powertrain that combines a 3.4-liter Twin-Turbo V6 with an electric motor and battery as part of the powertrain.
All four pickups are able to drag up to 4500 kg, although the RAM has the best load with 863 kg capacity.
The RAM also benefits from its smaller displacement six-cylinder engine in the efficiency department, and consumes 10.7l/100 km on the combined cycle.
However, it will not get you as far between fill-ups as the F-150, which has no less than 136l fuel tank.
Although all models have four-wheel drive, Silverado is the only model with a full-time 4 × 4 system.

Safety
None of these pickups built by America have been tested by Ancap, which makes comparing safety characteristics a challenging task.
Nevertheless, each model is sold with somewhat different set of safety equipment.
All models are equipped with:
- Airbags
- Autonomous emergency braking (AEB)
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Rear traffic warning
- Lane Departure Alert
- Lane Tracing Assist
- Emergency help
- Adaptive cruise control
- Reversal camera
- Rear parking sensors
On top of the standard equipment above, some models receive a surround-view camera, the attention monitoring of the driver, parking sensors for the front and the lane tracing aid.
Standard equipment
Given the increased price of pickups in full size in Australia, they are all generally very well equipped, both inside and outside. This is how the most important equipment compares in it.
