Nicknamed ‘The Land of Fire and Ice’, Iceland is home to an exceptionally diverse range of landscapes full of topographical gems and majestic skies. For these reasons, it is no surprise that the destination is considered a haven for photographers around the world. After years of dreaming of visiting the scenic country, 2024 finally presented an opportunity for the Swiss photographer Jennifer Esseiva (previously).
Esseiva dedicated a ten-day tour of South Iceland entirely to the region’s vast environment, from the black-sand beaches, towering glaciers and dramatic waterfalls to the moss-covered formations and striking displays of the Northern Lights.

“While many prefer to travel in the sun, I am more interested in clouds and rain,” she says. “I have always discovered that photographing landscapes in different weather conditions gives them a different dimension, a unique grandeur.”
The photographer is planning an upcoming trip in March, this time to Finnish Lapland. Keep an eye on her Instagram for more, and check her out website for previous projects and prints for purchase.
