Two alleged gang members in Georgia are accused of the murder of a former high school football player who was killed by a lost bullet while working in a bar more than a year ago.
TSion Clayton, 23, and Kimone Green, 21, were both accused of one count of murder on Tuesday for the murder of 21-year-old Brianna Long, said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) in a press release.
The alleged murderers were already in custody for non -related cases when researchers identified them as the suspects gave in the death of lung and arrest statements.
Authorities said that one suspect is being held in Georgia and the other in Florida.
Long, a student of Valdosta State University, closed 40 miles north of the border with Florida-Colleague with a male colleague at the Pier in Remerton-Ongeverer when a fight outside the bar led to gunfire around 2:30 a.m. on 29 October 2023.
She was struck by a lost bullet in the bar and was rushed to South Georgia Medical Center, where she later died of her injuries. Her colleague was also struck by a bullet but survived.
Patterns were still outside the bar when the gunfire broke out and stray balls also met various vehicles during the shooting.
The GBI started an investigation into the shooting days after a long time was killed.
Researchers believe that the two alleged murderers in the area were looking for “another person who was related to a constant gang” when the shots were fired.
The GBI said that extra costs are expected to be submitted as the case progresses.
Long was a former striking football player at Paulding County High School and was named regional winner for positive athlete Georgia from 5,000 student athletes nominated for the 2019-2020 school year.
It was expected that she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene in May 2024 before she was murdered.
After the arrests, Long’s mother, Brandi Spinks, prayed for praying while the family navigates through the ‘extremely difficult time’.
“God answered our prayers, but we still have a long way for us,” wrote Spinks on Facebook on Wednesday.
Long’s mother told Fox 5 Atlanta That her daughter ‘our world’ was shortly after her murder in 2023.
“She was a cheerleader her very small life, Miss Paulding County, honors student,” said Spinks at the time.
“We just want to know why. We want to know why, and we want to ensure that this person is no longer there and takes another innocent life away. “
Spinks launched the “Brianna Long Foundation“To commemorate her daughter and” continue Brianna’s inheritance. “
The foundation is a charity organization that focuses on promoting initiatives for dental care and offering access to dental services for disadvantaged communities.
“We work tirelessly to continue Brianna’s inheritance and create a world where everyone has the chance to smile with confidence and to fully live life,” says the charity page. “Together we can make a difference – one smile at the same time.”
