Chicago – There is good news to report on police efforts to neutralize an armed theft that has beaten more than 20 times in the neighborhoods in West Town in the past month. The Chicago police said on Saturday that a 16-year-old boy is being accused of participating in four of those robberies, involving seven victims.
The boy was part of the crew who worked the streets on 11 March, the police said, starting with the robbery of a 24-year-old man in the 2000 block of West St. Paul around 9 am
About an hour later they focused on four men who were in the 2700 block of Noord -Albany. As with all other surcharges, two or three robbers came from a gray sedan, showed weapons and took the telephones and portfolios of the victims. They also tried to take their truck, but failed.
The victims offered descriptions that were comparable to the first robbery, but noted that one of the perpetrators was wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet, which broadcast a warning. It is unclear whether the single monitor has helped researchers to identify the 16-year-old.
At 10:25 am they robbed a 26-year-old man in the 2500 block of West Huron. And at 4.10 pm they robbed a 32-year-old man in the 1900 block of North Rockwell.
CPD cannot release any other information about the accused boy because he is a youth. He is accused of six counts of armed robbery and one count of crime worsened abuse with a deadly weapon. CPD said he also had an excellent order.
CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information that was provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas.
