Google Cloud and Solana Labs Partner to Launch GameShift for Web3 Gaming

Google Cloud has partnered with Solana Labs to launch GameShift, a new Web3 infrastructure platform specifically designed to support gaming applications.

GameShift, now available on Google Cloud Marketplace, gives game developers easy access to wallets, tokenized assets and on-chain markets. This collaboration between Google Cloud and Solana Labs will fuel the growth of Web3 and gaming innovation.

In the official blog post, Google Cloud outlined its plan to use Web3 technology to revolutionize the gaming industry. The platform aims to help developers unlock this potential with GameShift. Google Cloud stated:

“We want to share with the Google Cloud community the potential for Web3 in games, how GameShift can help developers realize this potential, the security of using GameShift for Web3, and how GameShift and Google Cloud now work together seamlessly. We invite anyone interested to contact their Google Cloud account manager or GameShift.”

Commenting on the growing partnerships between gaming studios and Web3 technology platforms, Jack Buser, Director of Games at Google Cloud, said this trend is fueled by the industry’s rapid growth and continued development. He added that game studios are already dealing with heavy workloads, and solutions like GameShift could provide an easy path to Web3 through simplified technical and cultural interfaces.

GameShift’s API-First approach

GameShift Managing Director David Hart highlighted the platform’s API-first approach, which allows game developers to integrate Web3 capabilities without having to be blockchain experts. He revealed the goal of the project, stating that they want to create “a development and player experience” that takes advantage of the great features of Web3.

Additionally, Hart shared details about GameShift’s main strategy: its invisible, non-custodial wallet system. This feature promises player safety despite the increasing hacks and threats in the blockchain ecosystem. GameShift’s invisible wallet is protected by its own cryptographic keys that separate assets between users and reduce the risks of unauthorized access.
