Google rolls out the May Pixel Drop Update, which contains a number of bug fixes and a warning for users who like to flash adapted Android -Builds to their phones.
While the Pixel drop of April only gave us the only big new addition (the possibility to share your screen with Gemini), the May Pixel Drop has a big zero.
What the May Pixel Drop has, his various remarkable bug fixes – and a warning from Google.
May Pixel Drop Fixes
The first of three solutions relates to a bug that has broken down the microphone quality quality in certain apps.
Another solution is for a Bluetooth coupling problem with certain smartwatches.
The third major solution is for secondary languages that are displayed in fast institutions.
All pretty small things, but potentially large if you suffer from one or more of these problems.
The Pixel update of May started rolling out today and starts in phases the coming week. It comes to all Pixel -telephones of the Google Pixel 6 series to the current Google Pixel 9 series.

Google’s May Pixel Drop -warning
There is an extra point to notice about the pixel drop of May. Google has issued “special instructions for updating pixel devices to the monthly release of May 2025”, in particular for those developers and enthusiasts who like to flash adapted builds to their phones.
Apparently the update contains “a boot loading update that moves the anti-Roll back version for the bootloader”.
This means that “after flashing the update of May 2025 on these devices is unable to flash and start older Android 15builds”.
What is the next step for Android?
The drop of new Android 15 functions is certainly drying up when we approach on Android 16, as you would expect. Google holds its next large I/O event on 20 May, where the next mobile operating system is fully detailed.
Perhaps the most expected announcement at Google I/O is the new onion design language of the company, Material 3 Expressive, which will hit both Android 16 and the many apps from Google.
Google itself leaked a deep dive into the design philosophy of Material 3 Expressive, which seems to be based on onion elements that feel good. Specifically, Google is “making important actions standing out and grouping as elements together”.
To achieve this point, it carried out an intensive period of focus and iterating. We are intrigued to see how things are going, especially now that Android 15 function-complete seems to be.
