The routine store trip from a grandmother to a South Side Aldi took a horrible turn when a shooter confronted her in the parking lot, her SUV stealed while her 6-year-old grandson was in the neighborhood. Within an hour the hijacker crashed the stolen car when the Chicago police struck.

According to a detentionmer of the prosecutors of Cook County, the 66-year-old grandmother took her grandson to the Aldi on 620 West 63rd Street in the afternoon of 8 June. After picking up her bag from the trunk of her black Buick SUV 2024, she and her grandson started walking to the store.

They came not far before the 18-year-old Keshawn Gilmore confronted them with a black gun, said public prosecutors. Allegedly Gilmore demanded the keys of the woman and “struggled” with her before she left with her car.

Surveillance images have recorded the entire incident, the prosecutors said.

Around 4.30 pm the stolen SUV readers caused the registration number on the incoming Dan Ryan Expressway. The Chicago police intercepted about 30 minutes later near 19th Street and Albany, with Gilmore riding and two passengers in it, claimed public prosecutors.

When officers tried to stop the vehicle, Gilmore was said to go away, run red lights and stop signs. But the chase ended two minutes later when Gilmore crashed at 3200 South Kedzie, a youth passenger from the backseat of the SUV ejected. All three passengers, including the juvenile, fled. But agents caught Gilmore, who still wore the same clothing in the Aldi video, said civil servants.

The police is said to have found a Glock gun on the driver’s floor, the “clear form” that corresponds to the weapon in the store video, and a second gun on the passenger board, said public prosecutors in a detention -herpetition.

Judge Shauna Boliker ordered Gilmore to hold as a security risk. He is confronted with accusations of aggravated kaacking with vehicles, exacerbated fleeing, aggravated possession of a weapon, illegal transport of a stolen vehicle and opposes the police.
