A shooter killed one woman and another injured in a North Hotel River on Saturday evening. The Chicago police believe they know who the shooter is and they try to find him.
Officers found the first Scottish victim in the lobby at 369 West Grand around 8:26 PM The 29-year-old had a Scot wound in her neck, but CPD said she is in good condition.
About 45 minutes later, the police entered a unit on the 30th floor where the victim had stayed. They found a 32-year-old woman inside with a shot wound on her chest. Officers managed CPR and applied a breast seal, hoping to save the woman, but she did not survive.
The surviving victim told the researchers that she was shot by a man who fled into a brown van who went east to Grand Avenue, according to CPD. The police identified him by name and tried to find him and the escape bus on Sunday morning, according to a source.
Online news reports indicate that the 29-year-old man was accused in 2010 of robbing a pizza deliverer in Schot in Iowa.
Saturday’s shootings are the first of the year for River North and the nearby north side as a whole. That is generally at pace with the past years.

CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information that was provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to offer original public safety report with a better context and more detail than regular media. Our editorial e -mail address is news@cwbchicago.com
