Chicago – A student from Loyola University was robbed and a motorist was carjacked at night by the same crew in Rogers Park, the last in a flurry of robberies that were reported on the north side this week.
Around 11:35 pm Tuesday a man and woman of 33 and 31 years old were in their white Mercedes -HATCHback in the 6300 block of North Sheridan when a silver sedan stopped. Three men left the sedan, showed weapons and ordered the victims to transfer their valuables and get out of the car, said a Chicago police spokesperson.
The armed men drove away with the victims’ car, followed by the sedan.
About 25 minutes later, the Loyola -student was robbed by three men in the 6500 block of North Glenwood, according to the public safety office of the school. The crew took the backpack, wallet and telephone from the student and then escaped in the Witte Mercedes.
Earlier on Tuesday, an Uber driver was carjacked under shot in Uptown. He told the police that he was in the 4300 block of North Broadway when several men forced him around 5:15 pm from his Nissan Sentra.
The police are also investigating an armed robbery reported in Lakeview on Monday evening. A woman reported that she was a masked man from a gray or silver sedan with a gun near the intersection of Cornelia and Lakewood. He took her phone and wallet and then fled into the vehicle, said a CPD report. A second person was seen in the escape car.
This week’s robberies mark a change in what the area has seen since the first of the year. CPD -Statistics Show that theft reports have fallen by 66% compared to last year in the Rogers Park district (24th). Robry reports are 33% fall In the town hall (19th) district, including Lakeview and a large part of Uptown.
