Armed men’s gun whip a woman during a robbery while she was in a car with a man in Wigleyville early on Friday morning, the police said.

According to a Chicago police spokesperson, a 22-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were in a car on Roscoe Street just west of Sheffield Avenue when two men approached them around 1:07 am, the men threatened the victims with weapons and asked their possessions.

But the robbery took an even more violent turn when one of the masked men hit the woman’s head and face, reportedly with a gun.

Both robbers then climbed into a white vehicle, possibly a Nissan -Sedan, and drove away. The woman drove to the 1800 block of West Belmont and called for help. She refused medical help.

This year, CPD has issued two warnings about theft crews that focus on Wigleyville and Gold Coast Bar visitors while waiting for journeys during closing time. Three of the five robberies of Wigleyville took place in the 3500 block of North Clark, about a block of Friday’s robbery.

The well -known crime pattern usually includes three or four robbers who approach victims and show a gun or use strength to get control of their valuables. The robbers even have access to a few bank accounts of the victims via telephones taken during the hold-ups, the police said.

The robberies took place in Wigleyville:

  • In the 3500 block of North Clark at 1:30 am and 2:30 am on January 5
  • In the 3500 block of North Clark at 1:10 am on January 11
  • In the 1000 block of West Newport at 2 o’clock on February 9
  • In the 3500 block of North Clark at 1:55 am on February 23
  • In the 3600 block of North Clark at 3:45 am on February 23
