A hidden bear holder who was accused of guns who fired a gun over the head of a woman in Wigleyville last weekend was not brought to court to see a judge because her alleged behavior was not eligible for detention under the SAFE-T law, according to the Chicago police.
Officers assigned to patrol, the Wigleyville Bar Strip heard a shot and then saw people run from a parked minibus near the corner of Clark and Newport around 02.15 am on Saturday 26 April.
They ran to the van and found hidden bear holder Zully Sotelo, 25, next to the open van with a bullet and a spending shell on the sidewalk, said a CPD report.
Witnesses identified Sotello as the person who used a gun to hit a 26-year-old woman in the face and body before they fired the weapon above the woman’s head, according to the report. The police said they found a 9 millimeter gun on the floor of the van.
Sotelo ‘showed significant signs of intoxication’, according to the report, and reportedly had an alcohol concentration of blood of .140, well above the legal limit for driving.
The report also said that paramedics advised the injured woman to seek medical help for a broken nose.
Officers custody Sotelo in a crime count of reckless dismissal of a firearm and crime counts of battery and wearing a hidden firearm under the influence.
But the police have released her from the district station of the Town Hall (19th) instead of sending it for a hearing from the court “because it does not fit the criteria of the Pretrial Fairness Act,” the report said.
