The skeleton -like remains discover in a creepy barn opposite a New Hampshire State Prison were identified as a wanted sex offender, according to officials and reports.
Concord Police received an anonymous tip On April 21 there was a skeleton in the rickety structure opposite the prison. Officers responded and discovered that the bones later learned to be Michael Schilz, 59.
“The body of the deceased subject had seemed to have been within the barn for a long time,” said Concord Police in a press release.
It is unclear when Schliz died or how long his body was in the seemingly abandoned building. He was never reported as a missing person to Concord Police, Deputy Chef Barrett Moulton The Concord Monitor told.
The bones were delivered to the Concord Hospital and an autopsy was performed. On Monday, the remains were identified as a Schilz, a homeless man and once the New Hampshire Department of Corrections ‘Fugitive of the Week’ in 2023 for violating his conditional release.
In the posting 2023, the Ministry of Corrections contained a photo of a bald, bearded Schildz, which bore an empty expression.
The register of sex offender of the State gives an overview of the dead man, who was convicted in 2005 for worsened Felonious sexual attack on a minor, as unmarried in agreement, According to the Concord monitor.
Civil servants have not yet identified the cause of death.
The barn where his remains were discovered looks like something from a Stephen King -Roman, both because of the spooky looks and its dark history. It is opposite North State Street surrounded by bramble bushes and leafless trees. An old, curved basketball hoop is attached above the entrance near a black -yellow “warning: no traspassing” sign. The back is held on a dark pond with stains of algae.
In 2005, the building where the barn is was the location of a fatal arson. The murder due to arson was a cold case until the police made an arrest about 13 years later in 2018. Unlike the spooky barn, the property has largely been empty since, According to the Concord Monitor.
Employees at a massage parlor next to the building said they could not believe it when they heard about the discovery.
“We are just shocked and surprised,” An employee told WMTW 8.
