Influencer Sophie Rain has been criticized for boasting about earning £34million a YEAR through controversial side hustles

You may have heard of Sophie Rain.

She has 5.2 million Instagram followers and is one of the most lucrative content creators in the world. So much so that she earned more money than England captain Harry Kane this year.

But the influencer, who earned the majority of her 2024 earnings through controversial adult platform OnlyFans, has come under fire for boasting about her £34.3 MILLION earnings.

The 20-year-old beamed that she is “grateful” to have been raking in a whopping £2.9million a MONTH from posting sexual and explicit content on OnlyFans.

By comparison, Three Lions chief executive Harry Kane is said to have earned around £20.8 million this year, according to Sky Germany – which is more than £10 million less than Sophie’s earnings.

Controversial platform OnlyFans has become synonymous with online adult content, helping amateur porn stars and models make millions.

It has also attracted celebrities such as Bella Thorne and Katie Price.

Content creators charge monthly fees for access to photos, videos and more, with Sophie in the top percentile of earners.

She took to X (formerly Twitter) yesterday to show off her OnlyFans earnings for the year to November 28, 2024.

A screenshot supposedly taken from the app showed a gross profit of $43.5 MILLION, which translates to £34.3 million.

The Florida-based social media star added that she was “grateful for the 82 million American men today” who are subscribers to the X-rated platform.

Critics were quick to condemn Sophie for being ‘tone deaf’ and claimed her huge income was ‘disgusting’.

“You should be ashamed of yourself,” one person wrote.

“This is honestly sad,” sighed a second.

Sophie revealed in October that there are several fake accounts online of people impersonating her to extort money from men.

She claims that people have even taken her videos and used AI to superimpose their faces onto her body.

What is OnlyFans?

OnlyFans is a subscription content service based in London.

It is believed to have more than 220 million registered users and more than three million content creators by 2023.

Sex workers charge monthly fees for access to photos, videos and more.

While popular for porn, the site isn’t designed solely with that in mind: anyone who wants to build a fan base and charge money for it can set one up.

Celebrities like Katie Price and Kerry Katona are popular personalities on the platform.

“Whether you upload tutorials, tips, behind-the-scenes footage, or just endless selfies, many of your followers would be willing to pay for it,” the company says.

For every subscription sold to a viewer, artists get 80 percent of the money, while OnlyFans gets the rest.

It is not limited to adult content as it has become popular among physical fitness experts and musicians.

“It really bothers me,” she said.

“I find it incredibly creepy to see my body or my face being used by someone else.

“I have a lot of guys message me and say something like, ‘Hey, we had plans to hang out and you canceled at the last minute, I just want to know why.’

“I do my best to respond to them and tell them that I don’t message people on my unverified social media accounts.

‘I give them some sympathy and sometimes they are understanding and that’s that, but often they think I’m lying about it.

“It really annoys me because it’s not my fault that someone is using my photos to scam them.”
