Apple announced its daring new iOS 26 re -design on WWDC 2025 last night – but how cool is it?
As the standard has become when discussing a new mobile operating system, the internet quickly fills with Android fans who indicate that various new functions of iOS 26 wholesaler have been borrowed from Google. Often these functions were rolled out on pixel telephones many years ago.
Of course inspiration flows both sides in the two horse race that is the modern mobile OS scene. But there are undoubtedly some iOS 26 functions that we can now turn on our Google Pixel 9 telephones, not to mention several of his predecessors. Here there are a few who caught our attention.
Gemini Live and Circle to search
It is an accepted fact that Apple has virtually strung its AI implementation, but iOS 26 suggests that it will come. Slowly.
Yet the new visual intelligence functions show some well -known elements. In particular, the possibility is to use Apple Intelligence to understand what is on the screen and offer contextual help, it looks very much like Google’s Gemini Live and Circle for search aids, the last of which has been pixel telephones (and non-pixel Android telephones) since January 2024.
Apple
Call -screen
Imagine that iOS could screen you in intelligent way in you? Now it is possible with a call screening. It collects information from an incoming caller and then gives you the information so that you can decide whether you want to talk to them or not.
That is great, but such a facility is available on Google’s phones since Pixel 4 in 2019 in the form of call screening. Even the name is similar.
Hold for me
Here is another telephone app function that Apple has transferred to the Pixel phones from Google to iOS 16. Hold Assist will check when you are put on hold and then inform you when a live person is on the other side again.
It was a super-nuttry function when the end of 2020 appeared on the Google Pixel 5 as a hold for me, and it will probably be a super-use function when it appears on the iPhone 17 at the end of 2025.
Live translate
Apple announced a new live translation function for iOS 26, and as the name suggests, iPhone users immediately translate text and audio.
The name Live translation also suggests something else. Google launched its own comparable live -decreasing function with the Pixel 6 in 2021.

Apple
Google Maps Timeline
On WWDC 2025, Apple announced a new Apple Maps function to places called places. It sees the app securely logging in to all places that you have visited, creating an automated personal timeline.
Speaking of timelines, Google launched are Google Maps Timeline function – formerly known as location history – for Pixel and other Android phones about ten years ago. It made the functional device-specific (and therefore more on privacy focused) in December 2024.
Wrist gestures
Apple steps from iOS 26 and in the thematically linked world of Watchos 26, introduces an intuitive wrist-flick gesture to reject reports quickly.
Handy – But Pixel Watch (and Galaxy Watch) Wearables running wear OS have had a gesture control for a while. Moreover, you can also shake your wrist on the Google platform to go back or cancel and to action, open the app and settings menus, and more.
