What is Ironheart about?
Ironheart will introduce a newer figure in the Marvel Comics, Riri Williams. Riri is a young genius who makes her own suit from Amour who is reminiscent of the one built by Tony Stark.
In the comics she becomes a mentee for him after her suit caught his attention. It is clear that after the events of Avengers: Endgame the MCU’s version of Riri Williams is a bit different.
Riri was introduced to the world of superheroes via Shuri and Okoye in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever … if reluctantly in the beginning.
She was brought to Wakanda’s side to fight Nymor and the Talokan and built a suit made of vibranium in Shuri’s Lab. However, she was not allowed to hold the suit, because Wakanda was worried that it fell into the government or the enemy hands.
That is why Riri will have the knowledge and connections from her time in Wakanda in Ironheart, but it will still have to work on building a brand new suit.
As the synopsis for the series stated:
Made after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel Television’s Ironheart Pits Technology against Magic when Riri Williams – a young, genius inventor who is determined to leave her mark on the world – returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique view of the construction of iron suits is brilliant, but when she’s striving for her ambitions, she was packed with the mysterious but charming Parker Robbins Aka The Hood.
In an interview with The Direct, Thorne stated that Wakanda Forever showed more of a stressed side of Riri, so we can expect her personality in full bloom:
I really hope that people remember, when they consider who they met and what they saw, that this was a girl in the first place. If you think of something that you liked, everything you liked, or didn’t even like, remember that this was all a person who was stressed, she fought for her life. She had never seen blue people before.
