Israel kills Hezbollah leader with rocket attack: letters

The issue: the Israeli rocket attack on a Beirut neighborhood that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

With the assassination of Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, Israel has demonstrated its ability to kill its enemies (“Time is up for Israeli patience,” September 29).

We are witnessing a new Israel, an Israel that will no longer have a measured response. It has the motivation to impose its will on its enemies.

The IDF attack on Hezbollah’s headquarters eliminated not only Hezbollah’s head, Nasrallah, but also many other senior commanders.

But the reality is that this will not end the war. New leaders will emerge for Hezbollah and eventually Iran’s allies will continue to attack Israel.

I don’t think many people will mourn Nasrallah’s death.

But many will mourn the consequences of Israel’s attacks on Lebanon, which have killed scores of civilians and displaced thousands of others. They will also mourn the escalation this attack will cause, which could lead to a wider conflict between Israel and Lebanon, killing even more civilians.
We must stop Israel now and push for a ceasefire before we get into World War III.

The Israeli elimination of Nasrallah was not an ‘escalation’. The escalation occurred when Hezbollah attacked Israel from the north to open a second front in Iran’s proxy war against Israel, a day after Hamas invaded Israel from the south.

Hezbollah has since fired more than 9,000 rockets into Israel, killing dozens and forcing 60,000 Israelis into the north of the country.

Is there a bigger picture of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah that we are not seeing?

Hezbollah’s leaders must have predicted and planned how Israel would respond to their attacks. The attack on Nasrallah was not merely an incident born of impulsiveness.

Is escalating violence in the Middle East the target of their attack on Israel? Are Israel’s anger and attacks on this Iranian proxy the result of a pre-planned goal to sow chaos?

The problem: New statistics indicate that approximately 15,000 migrants accused of murder are living in the US.

I read The Post’s story about the 15,000 murderous migrants in the United States (“15,000 Illegal Migrant Killers,” September 28).

These criminal migrants threaten America. Kamala Harris had to make sure this wouldn’t happen – and yet it did. Despite this, she still wants to become president.

The story of the 15,000 deadly illegal migrants and other violent criminals who have crossed our borders should be the defining issue of the 2024 election.

“Border Czar” Vice President Harris must be held accountable for her and President Biden’s terrible record on border security.

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign should run bold ads highlighting the out-of-control violent crimes of these illegal aliens from now until Election Day.

Think back to the final days of the 1988 presidential election. Then the famous “Willie Horton” ads against then-Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis played a major role in helping former President George HW Bush win the election. The Trump campaign has a golden opportunity to repeat that success.
