Jason Cave joins Mr. Cooper Team as SVP of Government Affairs

Cave reports directly to Kurt Johnson, the company’s EVP and CFO. Cave joins the firm with more than three decades in the federal banking regulatory industry, serving in various leadership roles at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) And Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

In 2023, when Cave was the chief fintech officer at the FHFA, he led the agency First technical sprintwhich “brought together experts and practitioners from the technology and mortgage finance industries to solve a common challenge,” according to the website.

That first technical sprint asked how data digitization could drive transparency and increase access, equity, affordability and sustainability in mortgage lending. The FHFA continued to host the tech sprint in 2024, when the theme was how Gen AI could be used to solve housing affordability issues.

Cave graduated from Bryant University and was a director at Piedmont Risk Advisors, LLCa company he founded, which provides strategic advisory services for financial institutions on their business strategy and implementation.

In his new role, Cave will work closely with regulators, industry associations, advocacy groups and government agencies to support Mr. Cooper’s clients.
