A man accused of the fire bombs of a Tesla dealer in Colorado is confronted with federal charges, said attorney -general Pam Bondi on Monday.
Cooper Jo Fredrick, 24, was arrested in Plano, Texas, on suspicion of attacking a Tesla dealer on March 7 in Loveland, Colo, Bondi said.
“Let this be a warning. You can run, but you can’t hide,” said Bondi in a video message. “Justice is coming.”
Frederick, a resident of Fort Collins, Colo., Allegedly a burnworthy device ignited and hurled it to the dealer, narrowly missed various parked vehicles.
The device landed between two cars and created a fire, said the Loveland police.
Several people in the dealer who were cleaning the building were present at the time, the police said.
A rapid thinking officer on the spot, however, extinguished the flames and nobody was damaged.
The building and various vehicles were also damaged by stones, the police said.
“I made it clear (that) if you participate in the Gulf of Domestic Terrorism against Tesla -we will find you, arrest and place you behind bars,” Bondi said.
“All these cases pose a serious threat to public safety. That is why there will be no negotiation.”
Frederick was arrested a week after the attack. Federal Public Prosecutors are looking for 20 years in prison, Bondi said.
In addition to the federal charges against him, Frederick is also confronted with local charges, including second -degree arson and possession of explosives or fire pants devices.
He is one of the many suspects associated with attacks on Tesla dealers and factories in recent weeks.
The attacks seemed to concentrate on Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his role in the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) of the Trump government.
Lucy Grace Nelson, 42, also known as Justin Thomas Nelson, is also confronted with charges in connection with a separate incident on 27 February at the same Loveland dealer.
In response to the attacks, the FBI has launched a task force to resolve the violence, created with the group in combination with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) to coordinate research activities.
