A new approach to Web3 accessibility
The launch of Mini Dapps is part of Kaia Wave, a program aimed at supporting global Web3 developers. From a competitive pool of more than 800 applicants, 30 teams were selected for the first phase.
LINE NEXT and Kaia plan to further expand this initiative, with a goal of 150 additional Mini Dapp projects in the first half of 2025. Developers can stay up to date with the latest project selections via LINE NEXT’s Dapp Portal on Medium and the Kaia Wave website.
“LINE NEXT aims to increase access to Web3 services from the perspective of both Internet and Web3 users and developers. We plan to introduce the largest number of Web3 Dapps and expand our user base, especially in the main LINE Messenger countries of Japan, Thailand and Taiwan.”
Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEX
Some notable Mini Dapps among the first 30 projects include:
Bombie – Created by Pluto Studio, this project previously reached 43 million users and was #1 in sales volume within just six months.
Shin-chan’s Match Daily – A casual mini-game inspired by the beloved animated series Crayon Shin-chan.
Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS- on LINE — A game that has its roots in the popular football manga Captain Tsubasa and brings well-known characters to the Mini Dapp universe.
Heroic Arena – An idle ACG-style clicker where players engage in strategic battles with heroes in an immersive multiplayer arena.
Superz – A wellness-focused Dapp that encourages users to maintain their fitness habits while earning tangible rewards.
Extensive developer support
To facilitate the development of Kaia-powered Mini Dapps, select teams will have access to a range of resources including a software development kit (SDK), compensation delegation, co-marketing initiatives and various investment opportunities through Kaia Wave. This support framework aims to lower the barriers for developers to integrate their Dapps within LINE Messenger and the Dapp Portal.
Dr. Sam Seo, chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, echoed this view:
“Kaia is committed to creating a highly accessible, user-centric Web3 ecosystem. We are excited to offer such a convenient Web3 service platform within the LINE Messenger. Kaia will continue to innovate blockchain technology and services to accelerate Web3 adoption in Asia and globally.”
Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman of Kaia DLT Foundation
Dapp Portal acts as a discovery center where users can find, download and use Mini Dapps directly within LINE Messenger. The platform introduces a seamless experience for users to interact with decentralized applications, access rewards and trade virtual assets. By embedding Web3 functionality into the familiar LINE Messenger interface, LINE NEXT hopes to remove barriers to entry for regular users.
Developer-focused SDK for Kaia-powered apps
In addition to the launch of the Mini Dapps, LINE NEXT has unveiled its SDK for developers. This toolkit simplifies the process of building and deploying Mini Dapps in the Kaia chain. By supporting not only selected Kaia Wave participants but also other aspiring developers, LINE NEXT is expanding access to the Web3 space.
David Mak, CEO of Pluto Studio, also shared his enthusiasm:
“We are very excited about LINE’s Mini Dapp and have high hopes for its potential. From Bombie, we plan to launch a variety of mini games within this ecosystem.”
David Mak, CEO of Pluto Studio
