Due to colorful squiggles embedded with games, trampolines and sculptural trees, a new public park in Guangzhou, China, the possibilities of playing rises again.
“Wired scape”, which design company 100architects Accounts as a “a confusing forest of imagination and pleasure” are inspiration from the natural landscape to create a unique playground in a residential area. Trees that resemble balls of colorful wire seem to turn from the ground, and vaulted green and blue shapes reflect the interaction of land and water.
Lively trees made of pipes that spiral around central cores, serve a triple goal as a climbing structures, shadowing awnings and supports for a series of interconnected bridges in the park. The overall aesthetics reminds of computer -generated images in video games or animation.
100architects intended to break down from the traditional playground design and instead concentrate on the layout as a multigenerational space. The imagination of children is stimulated by countless ways to jump, climb, slide and run, while care providers and parents have sufficient options for shady seats with clear lines of sight.
