A Lincoln Park –man was captured pending the trial after prosecutors accused him of having robbed his neighborhood store Wijn four times a week. Charles Korman, 29, lived about a block of the 7-Eleven on 2619 North Clark until his recent move to the Cook County prison.
Prosecutors said he had robbed the five -bottle of wine on April 1 and five more on April 2.
On April 3, he reportedly claimed to have a gun and threatened to shoot at the cashier while stole six more bottles of dark horse wine. The cashier told the police that he saw a gun -shaped object at the waist of the thief.
Three days later, Korman reportedly returned, threatened to shoot the cashier again and took dark horse wine between 15 and 20 bottles, which he put in a backpack. A CPD report said that he has lifted his sweatshirt to expose a revolver in his waistband.
Police officers who patrol the neighborhood arrested him near his house in the 600 block of West Wrightwood after he had noticed that he looked like the thief, who was wearing the same outfit during every robbery: a green sweatshirt, green winter cap, black face mask and a black glove.
The police said he had a 5-inch knife and a carbon dioxide pellet gun in his waistband when the officers in custody took him.
In addition to four counts of theft, Korman was initially accused of two counts of theft of crime for crime for alleged stems of six bottles of wine from the store on March 30 and five more on 5 April. Those charges are no longer pursued.
