Man charged with the sexual abuse of two women at Knifepoint on the north side, one in December, another this week
Tymarion Averyhart (Chicago Police Department)

A Rogers Park – man is accused of sexual abuse of two women at Knifepoint on the north side – one this week and another on the day after Christmas, said Chicago police. He is also monitored in other cases of sexual violence in the area that CPD is publicly linked to a single crime pattern.

Tymarion Averyhart, 19, appears on Sunday afternoon for a detention hearing in the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.

CPD said he is the man who raped a 21-year-old woman on Knifepoint in the 1800 block of West Lunt on Thursday evening. Police officers arrested him minutes after the attack, about a block of the crime scene.

Officers crossed paths with a victim during a traffic stop just across the border in Evanston around 11:07 pm. She told them that a man had just got a knife and had sexually abused her while she was walking in a gangway, according to a police statement.

Other officers found Averyhart in the 1800 block of West Greenleaf a little later and took him in custody.

Just like the serial rapist who warned the police about days earlier, Averyyhart had a bicycle and armed himself with a knife, so that researchers were immediately looking for the left between him and the earlier cases.

For now he is only accused of one of the earlier attacks: the December 26, 2024, rape of a 27-year-old woman in the 6200 block of North Bell. Allegedly Averyhart broke in the residence of a woman on the first floor around 2:50 am and made “illegal sexual contact” with her while she was armed with a knife, a CPD report said. Allegedly he took the keys and playstation of the woman before he left.

He is also accused of committing two residential burglaries on the same block, one on December 28 and the other on January 10, the police said on Saturday.

Public Prosecutors have accused him of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual attack, a sexual offenses committed during a house invasion, worsened armed kidnapping, aggravated illegal reliability and three counts of residential burglary.

CPD said that he lives in the 6200 block of North Hermitage, just to the east of where the police said the serial rider had walked around and just west of Thursday’s attack took place.

The two unsolved crimes that the police had grouped under the crime pattern are:

  • An attack of 25 March in the 6200 block of Noord -Artesian. CPD said a man showed a knife and an item from a woman stable when she entered her building. About 20 minutes later he focused on another woman when she entered a home into the 6200 block of North Oakley. He robbed her and “committed illegal sexual contact” before he left the area, the police said in a report.
  • The attack of 25 April of a woman in the 6100 block of North Campbell. Again, a woman walked into her home when the man confronted her with a knife, “elusive sexual contact committed” and took her valuables.
