CHICAGO – A 19-year-old man is accused of committing eight armed robberies in an hour while under electronic monitoring for six other crimes, including four more robberies.
Marcell Hale, 19, and at least one accomplice displayed firearms last Monday, Nov. 11, to rob men whose ages ranged from 23 to 74, prosecutors said. And according to an arrest warrant, he did so while wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet for juvenile court supervision in six cases, including four armed robberies.
According to allegations in court documents, Hale and the unnamed accomplice took phones and wallets one after the other. He is accused of theft:
- a 69-year-old man in the 4000 block of West Belmont
- a 23-year-old man from the 2300 block of North Kalov
- a 36-year-old man from the 1900 block of North Kilbourn
- men ages 28, 49 and 57 in the 1600 block of North Tripp
- a 35-year-old man in the 4400 block of West Cortland
- a 74-year-old man from the 1600 block of North Kedzie
Chicago police officers identified Hale through photo lineups and “electronic means,” according to his arrest report.
Judge William Fahy granted the state’s detention request. He is charged with eight armed robberies.
