Police are investigating after a 29-year-old man reported he was forced into an SUV outside a River North nightclub by men who robbed him at gunpoint.

According to police, the victim was outside in the 200 block of West Ontario Street when two men exited a dark-colored SUV around 4:45 a.m. and approached him. The men then “led” the victim into the vehicle, a CPD spokesperson said.

While inside the SUV, the robbers displayed a gun and demanded the victim’s personal belongings, police said. The men then drove a short distance to the 300 block of West Illinois Street, where the victim was released without further incident. He was not injured.

The victim told police he thought he was being targeted as he stood outside the Sound-Bar nightclub. He described the robbers as two black men wearing black clothing and balaclavas. Investigators are looking into whether the vehicle involved was a black Hyundai Santa Fe.
