CHICAGO — A man was shot and seriously injured in Rogers Park Sunday morning, Chicago police said. Officers say he did not cooperate with CPD’s investigation before undergoing surgery.
Police responded to more than 20 shots fired near the intersection of Morse and Greenview around 5:15 a.m. They found no one in the area, but the victim walked into St. Francis Hospital in Evanston a short time later with a gunshot wound to his back.
Officers went to the hospital to find out more about what happened, but said he declined to give details.
Earlier in the morning, police responded to calls of a group hanging out on the street and a party in the area where the man was shot. It is unclear if the incidents are related to the shooting.
So far this year, 20 people have been shot in Rogers Park, up from 29 last year. Similar periods in 2022 and 2021 saw 24 and 17 victims respectively.
CWBChicago was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had become discouraged by the inaccurate information presented during local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has since expanded to Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original public safety reporting with better context and more detail than mainstream media. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
