A California man woke up from surgery after allegedly stabbing himself and his wife — and immediately confessed to killing his mother as well, police said.
Frank James McMillan, 63, allegedly visited Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo where his wife was being treated Saturday — and stabbed her at least once before using the knife on himself, leaving both in critical condition, police said and the hospital.
“After McMillan’s surgery, he spontaneously confessed to killing his birth mother” at her home before the hospital attack, Vallejo police said.
Officers entered her home and “discovered McMillian’s deceased biological mother inside,” the department said.
The deceased mother was not immediately named, pending family notification, and it was not immediately revealed how she was killed.
McMillan is charged with attempted murder over the alleged stabbing of his wife, as well as murder over the death of his mother.
Both McMillan and his wife are expected to recover from their injuries.
Once he is medically cleared, McMillan will be taken to the Solano County Jail, police said.
Police have not provided details about the circumstances leading to the assault or a motive for the killing.
