CHICAGO – Police are conducting a death investigation after a man found an Amazon box containing an object believed to be a human head on the West Side last night.

Initial information says the man was walking his dog when he came across the playpen in the 2600 block of West Taylor around 5:30 p.m.

In a brief media statement, Chicago police said the man reported he was “on the sidewalk and discovered a box containing the remains of an unknown victim.”

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the recovered item today. Researchers there will determine whether the remains are human and, if confirmed, try to determine who they are and how they died.
