An employee of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office was robbed of her cell phone by a thief in the East Village last month, law enforcement sources said.
The 24-year-old victim — described on her LinkedIn as a trial preparation assistant — was walking on East 4th Street near Avenue A around 6 p.m. Tuesday when the stranger suddenly grabbed her phone, the sources said.
The suspect fled the scene along East 4th Street and is still on the run, police said.
The young woman – who started working for the public prosecutor almost two years ago – was not injured during the robbery.
Police on Wednesday released surveillance of the bespectacled suspect, wearing a black bubble jacket with the hood pulled up, black pants and white sneakers.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office did not respond to a request for comment and the victim did not immediately return messages.
“I feel sorry for this guy,” a Manhattan officer told The Post of the elusive suspect. “He’ll probably have the book thrown at him. Meanwhile, the suspects who hit the police officers with snowballs and injured them got a slap on the wrist.”
Gusmane Coulibaly, 27, was the first suspect arrested for allegedly throwing snowballs at NYPD officers in Washington Square Park after a snowstorm in late February — but got a break when Manhattan declined to prosecute Officer Alvin Bragg on the most serious charge of assault.
He was released under supervision during his arraignment.
The second alleged snowballer, Eric Wilson Jr., was charged only with intimidation and obstruction of governmental administration and released in court due to his age and lack of criminal history.
