A repeated perpetrator was free to turn a 37-year-old pregnant woman in the face in a Queens-Metro train last month after he had committed three other comparable transit attacks for the past four months, but was repeatedly given back to do more violence, sources said.
Christopher Benitez, 33, from Brooklyn-Die 16 prior arrests, again on Friday to hit his last victim aboard a J-train in the Jamaica Center-Parsons archer station around 5:50 pm 25 February, according to police officers and sources.
The alleged attack comes after a series of recent attacks that did not lead to him being locked up – also on December 26, in which he hit a woman on a metro in Queens, was arrested and liberated that same day without a bail and then attacked another woman in Manhattan later in the afternoon.
News that he was free to hit again left one of Benitez’s earlier victims that he was not in prison.
“It’s really scary,” said Elaine Silva, 37, who was beaten by Benitez on December 26 in the 42nd Street-Bryant Park train station.
“And it also makes me very angry with, and especially because it is another woman, because it was a pregnant woman. I actually feel very angry with it. ‘
Benitez’s series of recent alleged attacks began on November 9, when he was caught for hitting a 40-year-old woman in the face and the chest in a random attack on the Jamaica-Van Wyck metro station in Queens, according to the sources.
He received accompanied release in that attack, as requested by officers, because the indictment due to crime District attack was not eligible for bail according to the Steens Act, according to the sources.
That decision released him to hit again at 7.10 am on December 26 at the Roosevelt Avenue-74th Street Subway Station in Queens, when he randomly hit a 24-year-old woman in the face while walking to the Mezzanine, said sources.
He was caught again – but released again, this time on a desk appearance that ordered him to appear in court on February 21.
Instead of learning his lesson, he only hit Manhattan a few hours later, when he attacked Silva, hit her in the face while around 16:40 she was on her way to the exit of the 42nd Street-Bryant Park Station
Finally, public prosecutors asked for bail for Benitez, and a judge set it at $ 2,500 cash or $ 5,000 bond – which he could somehow post and go back on the street.
Silva relieved the rotating door for the clearly difficult man.
“I understand that he has a disorder in mental health care, but what if I have a meeting with him again, and maybe he will not remember me, but what if he does the same with another person?” Silva said. “And see what happened.”
Benitez would not have put the bust and bail on the right and narrow. He was arrested again while he was on a bail for the rate that on January 25 in Brooklyn Sprong, and was allowed to argue despite all recent arrests.
But then he did not show up before his next judicial date for his first attack of December 26 and an order was issued, says sources.
The order was out for him when he was caught on Friday for his last attack on the pregnant woman.
Benitez’s rap magazine also contains an arrest of January 2019 for mistreatment, a failure for criminal disaster in July 2018, and a bust in June 2016 due to alleged alcohol on the street, says sources.
Benitez’s last attack did not let the pregnant victim ran in the hospital, and he was again accused of third -degree attack, Cops said.
Benitez wore a black puffer jacket, blue jeans and black sneakers when he was led in cuffs from the Transit District 20 -District, housed in the Briarwood metro station.
He briefly threw the waiting press photographers and then laid his head down, hung it low as he was led out of the station and led in a waiting police car, bringing him to Queens Criminal Court.
His preliminary guide in the last case was processed on Friday evening.
