Maniac senselessly pushes woman (62) onto New York subway tracks after demanding a lighter: police

A maniac senselessly pushed a 62-year-old woman onto the Brooklyn subway this week because she ignored his request for a lighter — before quickly-acting bystanders pulled her back to safety, police and sources said.

The suspected shover, Shadrach Ford, 30, of Uniondale, Long Island, was arrested Friday on a laundry list of charges including attempted murder in connection with the attack early Thursday at the Jefferson Street station in Bushwick, police said.

The victim was standing on platform L just before 6 a.m. when the stranger approached her, police said.

The man asked the woman for a lighter, but when she ignored him, he punched her in the face and pushed her to the road, police sources said.

Good Samaritans helped her back onto the platform and she was not hit by a train, police said.

The woman, who suffered injuries to her left ankle and right elbow, was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

Less than 12 hours after the senseless attack, police released video of the suspect — described as about 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a blue du-rag, gray shirt, gray pants and white and pink sneakers .

Eagle-eyed officers at the Broadway Junction station — six stops away — recognized Ford from a wanted flyer and arrested him, police sources said.
