French artist Youri Cansell, also known as Mantra (formerly) continues to brighten neighborhood streets and major cities with its vibrant insect murals. Based on his fascination with nature and its conservation, he creates monumental specimen boxes on buildings all over the world, filled with a wide variety of butterflies.
The artist recently completed his largest mural to date in Miami, placed on the roof of the Southeast Financial Center building. Nestled in the surface of a characteristically organized closet, an array of colorful butterflies rest next to the structure’s utilities.

The mural features numerous species, including the endangered Miami blue butterfly, which is native to South Florida. “It is always a pleasure to paint in Miami, a city that thrives on its vibrant mix of people and cultures, much like the butterflies in my mural, which represent a diverse selection of specimens,” says the artist.
Other recent projects include a giant glass display on the side of a building in Brooklyn and a towering, narrow composition in downtown Houston. Read more about Mantras website And Instagram.
