Maura Higgins and Charli XCX look brilliant in braless - but take it from my 34d breasts, it all goes south from here

Writer and mother-of-two Mel Fallowfield, 52, feels that she pays the price for throwing away her bra in her youth.

While celebrities embrace the braless look, Mel reveals how those who wear a bra suffer less with the later in life.

This year the British were apparently flooded with complaints after Charli XCX came on stage to accept her five prizes – including album of the year – in a daring pure black dress and not a bra, so that you could catch a glimpse of her nipples.

She said and said: ‘I heard that ITV was complaining about my nipples. I feel that we are in the era of ‘Free the Nipple’, right? “

I am certainly not a swim of Victorian girl and I see no problem with the 32-year-old singing sensation that bends the meat.

I have no idea why seeing a nipple is considered offensive, it’s just a body part. Men don’t think anything about the loss of their sweaty T-shirts and exposing their bare crates as soon as there is a glimpse of sunshine.

Charli XCX looked beautiful.

Net als alle andere vrouwen die onlangs hun braless -borsten op de rode loper hebben gekleurd, van Love Island en ik ben een beroemde ster Maura Higgins, 34, die een pure zwarte jurk droeg en geen beha, met geborduurde bloemen die haar tepels bedekten, tegen de Britten, naar de Britten, tegen de Britten, tegen de Britten, tegen de Britten, tegen de Britten, tegen de Britten, tegen de Britten, tegen de British, against the British, against the British, against the British, against the British, against the British, on the British, against the British, on the British.

And it is refreshing that they feel confident enough to do it.

I shrink horror For a very different reason. For years I spent my bra in my 20 and 30s, I now have the feeling that I am paying the price. My once permanent breasts went south.

Although age and gravity have played their bit there – I can’t help it, but I feel that my cavalier attitude has not helped them.

I miss the way they used to be.

I used to take my bra with a drop of hat – even though I had 34d breasts.

They were pretty sturdy at the time and I often wore dresses with Bootlace, Halterhals and Backless dresses, and did not like my bra was visible among them.

I also loved strapless dresses, but could never get a grip on a strapless bra – one time I wore one that I spent all night, he offered me that it would slide down and made me look like I had four breasts, such as a cow’s udder!

There were also other reasons. Beings are not the most comfortable items of clothing – the feeling of relief when you take them out at night is almost as good as undoing the button on your jeans after a particularly greedy meal.

And I hate to wear something that you think you should wear because of the expectations of society – there is a reason why women dumped their bras during the women’s library movement in the 1970s, it was a symbol to protest against patriarchy.

But they are undoubtedly useful and offer much needed support, so that the pain and chest pain can stop.

They have been wearing women since ancient times – there are murals that depict women in bras in Sicily from the fourth century AD.

Most historians the bra as we know it at an invention from 1910 by Mary Phelps Jacob, who was only 19 years old at the time. She apparently bought a pure dress for a ball, but could not find a corset that was not shown under the dress.

Inspired by necessity, she formed two sides handkerchiefs together with a ribbon.

After friends and acquaintances had asked her to make similar versions for them, she realized that she had a hit. She patented her design in 1914.

And now I am grateful that she invented it. Nowadays I could not go in any way. I almost need jetty to keep them in place or they would tickle my knee.

Good news Is that so far my nipples still point in the right direction, but research tells me that when sagging becomes really bad, they will point to the floor – so that is something to not look forward to!

In clothing they are still reasonable and my husband has not filed a complaint, but I would certainly not get away from wearing a pure dress and no bra.

It is a pity, because I have always loved my breasts, they have taken me out of all kinds of scratches, even so that I had dropped a fast -moving fine when I was stopped by a buyer while I was wearing a very low -cut top. They give me a feminine and desirable.

Even a brush with breast cancer eight years ago only briefly hated me. I remember that I begged my surgeon to give me a double breast amputation in the hope that it would mean that I could not get breast cancer.

She told me that I had to think about it and yes, after my treatment was over, I was very happy to still have them.

When I am completely honest, I felt a bit self -satisfied over my large but perfectly rounded and permanent breasts. My flat dressed friends admitted that they were jealous.

Now, however, they still have the last smile with their breasts neatly where they were always – a friend, even joke that she only needed a plaster to hold them in place – Lucky Girl.

Although scientists are divided on whether the wearing of a good supporting bra makes a difference to sag – I am positive from my experience that it does.

There is of course the exception to the rule and I would like to applaud the 59-year-old Liz Hurley for having breasts that defy gravity

And a quick straw survey from my fuller friends of breasts supports it – those who wore a bra all the time certainly suffer less.

Professor Joanne Wakefield-Curr, a biomechanics expert who runs the website Thebraprofessor.comDoes it agree.

She says that going without a bra can put too much pressure on the ligaments and the skin and ensure that they irreversibly sag and frighten it adds: “We have absorbed the breast skin that extends to more than double the original length if they are not properly supported.”

She explains: “We have no muscles in the chest, every natural support is based on the skin and ligament structure – you have basically received a bag of skin, which on average supports a kilo and half of the weight combined with both breasts.

It is quite heavy and what is different about your chest is that with other parts of your body when you emphasize them, they become stronger – for example your muscles.

“But with your breasts if you keep stretching the skin, it becomes thinner and weaker and leads to early sagging.

Unfortunately it’s all about prevention, you can’t heal your breasts. And wearing a well -fitting bra will help. “

So while I applaud these women because they went without their bra, I hope they listen to my warning story and reserve the braless look for very special occasions.

There is of course the exception to the rule and I would like to applaud 59-year-old Liz Hurley for having breasts that defy gravity.

She is one of the first people I remember to wear the braless look in ‘That Dress’ -the Gold Safety Pin Versace number that she was wearing in 1994 when she accompanied Hugh Grant to the prime minister of four weddings and a funeral.

The dress made her a household name and she remains one now.

Recent photos of her in a bikini illustrate that her spacious assets are as perfect as always.

Liz, if you read this, please tell me how you managed it … Although I have a sinking feeling that it would be too late …
