The company is also offering factory bonuses of $8,000 on the 2023 (MY23) model year Essence 64, Long Range 77 and XPower models, although it advises customers to speak to their local MG dealer to confirm the total savings available.
MG is not only ending the offer of the MG 4 prematurely, but also says it has no plans to ever bring this price back.
“MG saw an incredible response to the MG 4 price offers in October,” said Giles Belcher, Chief Commercial Officer of MG Motor Australia.
This was a record month for the car, which became the best-selling EV in Australia in October with 1,486 sales – becoming the first model to dethrone one of Tesla’s models.
“Our dealers across the country were able to help Australians make the switch to electric driving with the MG4. These price offers expire at the end of the year and will never be repeated,” Mr Belcher said.
In September, MG announced it would drop the base price of the MG 4 51 Excite to $30,990 drive-away until October 31, while rolling out $8,000 factory bonuses on 2023 model year (MY23) vehicles and $5,000 bonuses on MY24- vehicles.
This more competitive base price represented a savings of between $8,262 and $10,425, depending on the state or territory.
The following month, MG confirmed that the MG 4 51 Excite would be priced from $32,990 drive-away from November 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025.
Even at this price, the MG 4 still undercuts the second cheapest EV in Australia. The GWM Ora normally costs $35,990 for a drive-away in Standard Range guise, but until December 8, 2024 it will cost $33,990 for a drive-away.
