More armed robberies were reported in Bucktown, West Town on Wednesday

CHICAGO – Police are investigating two more armed robberies reported Wednesday afternoon in Bucktown and West Town.

First, a 34-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint as she walked around the 1900 block of Western Ohio around 4:01 p.m., a Chicago police spokesman said. She told police that a blue sedan pulled up and two men jumped out to rob her. But when she started screaming, they returned to the car and drove away without grabbing anything, the spokesperson said.

Then, shortly after 6 p.m., a 33-year-old man was robbed in the 1700 block of West Crystal. Police said he was outside when a silver sedan pulled up and two men got out. They robbed him at gunpoint and then drove away.

Robberies have increased since late November, with West Town and Near West Side neighborhoods particularly hard hit. Six robberies were reported in the area on Friday. Two more waves rolled over the area on Saturday. CPD issued a number of community alerts earlier this month about some of the incidents.

CWBChicago was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had become discouraged by the inaccurate information presented during local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has since expanded to Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas.
