A woman is in custody after she apparently stabbed her 7-year-old son in Rogers Park on Saturday morning.

The Chicago police issued a statement and said: “A 7-year-old male victim in a home was approached by a 26-year-old female perpetrator who produced a sharp object and stuck the victim” around 8 am

Researchers learned about the stabbing after the boy was brought to the Evanston hospital, where employees informed the police.

Evanston and Chicago officers responded to the hospital and heard that stabbing took place in an apartment in the 1700 block of West Touhy. The child’s mother was arrested in the hospital, according to a source.

In the meantime, the boy was transferred to the Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he underwent surgery. CPD said he was in a reasonable state.

CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information that was provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original reporting of public safety with a better context and more detail than regular media. Our editorial e -mail address is news@cwbchicago.com
