Instead, Samsung is offering an alternative deal that lets you jump from 256 to 512 GB at half the cost of what the upgrade would otherwise cost you. While this provides some comfort, the value proposition isn’t as strong as what we’ve come to expect from Samsung.
This change shouldn’t be too surprising to anyone who has been keeping an eye on industry trends lately. Apple was the latest company to make headlines after raising prices on key product lines such as the MacBook and iPad ranges, but Samsung wasn’t far behind after increasing the cost of its existing foldable products.

Not only will fans have to deal with higher costs for Samsung phones that have been on the market for quite some time, but there’s a good chance that costs for the upcoming wave of foldable phones could be higher than normal right out of the gate.
To maintain some ‘affordability’, the standard Z Fold 8, which will have a stubbier design and one less camera on the rear, could cost around £1,699/$1,899 (less than the Z Fold 7 at launch), but the Z Fold 8 Ultra, which is a more traditional successor to the Fold 7, could start at £1,899/$2,099.

At this point, there isn’t much we don’t know about Samsung’s upcoming range of phones. The camera and battery details have all been leaked and there are now several official renders of these devices circulating on the internet for all to see.
The latest images of the Z series show off previously unseen, online-exclusive colors for the upcoming phones. One such model is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in pistachio green (top of page), which, apart from being eye-catching, is certainly in fashion at the moment, as Google also plans to have several green-tinted options available for the upcoming Pixel 11 range.
