An ex-con from the Bronx was charged Friday with murder in the gruesome August slaying of another man whose dismembered body parts were found in a crockpot in a Bronx apartment — as well as in a burning shopping cart in Yonkers, police say and sources. .
Muhammad Aadil, 40, was linked to the killing of Lutalo Henderson, 46, whose severed hands were sticking out of a bleach-filled crockpot on the kitchen floor of the home on Rogers Place near East 163rd Street in Longwood on Aug. 5. Authorities and police sources report this.
A black bag discovered in the freezer at the time was believed to contain more remains, sources said.
A firearm and drug paraphernalia were also found in a bedroom, police said.
The trail began much earlier that same day when firefighters found a burning cart near the Oak Street Bridge in Yonkers, close to the border with Mount Vernon, and a lifeless body on the sidewalk, local authorities said.
Investigators believe two people took the remains from the Bronx on a Metro-North train that alighted at the Mount Vernon West station in Westchester County, sources said.
The NYPD could not confirm Friday afternoon whether another suspect was being sought in connection with the sickening crime.
Police were also unable to confirm the relationship between Aadil and Henderson, although they lived at the same address.
Neighbors described the victim last month as a longtime resident who “had roommates.”
In addition to the second-degree murder charge, Aadil was also charged with first-degree manslaughter, criminal possession of a controlled substance, concealing a human corpse and criminal possession of a firearm, authorities said.
He has a total of 11 arrests to his name, the most recent in 2020 for criminal possession of a firearm, police said.
Online records show Aadil has served three separate state prison terms, all drug-related, dating back to 2004 – with the most recent sentence stretching from 2015 to 2019.
His parole in that case expired in February 2023.
