Our opinion
The Ninja Crispi is compact, easy to clean and cooks incredibly good – and thanks to the glass cooking containers you show your food instead of hiding behind an opaque basket. Larger items may not cook perfectly, but if you prepare a meal for one or two, the Crispi is an easy recommendation for fast – and crispy – dining on the table.

It may be hard to believe, but there was a time in your life that you had never heard of an air frituse. Nowadays, the device is of course an anger in kitchens around the world, because people embrace the power of what is essentially a pint-format convection oven that can bake foods with minimal oil and that can sit comfortably on a countertop.
Air fryers are now in a wide range of sizes, shapes and styles, from devices with one operation to models with double countries to large toaster ovens with airfrego technology.
The newest comes from Ninja, in the form of an unusual air fryer called the Crispi. The unique design has a modular cooking element that rests on top of a glass cooker. I like to consider it one of those overhead, hairdressers in hood style, except designed for food.
Design and construction
- Comes with two glasses of cooking/storage containers
- Can be used directly on the countertop
- Sink and dishwashing
The Crispi box comes with a range of pieces, but a only electronic component, which I can best describe as a hand -defined heating element, a bit like an immersion mixer. Instead of moving a basket in and out of the device as you would with a traditional air fryer, with the Crispi you place the heating element directly on top of a glass barrel to cook, and remove the element when you’re done.

If you have multiple containers, you can cook in order and move the Crispi from one dish to another. And when dinner is over, the supplied storage covers let you stuck directly in the fridge without having to clean anything.
The Crispi unit itself is fairly compact, with a footprint of approximately 20×20 cm/8×8 in square and measuring about 15 cm/6 in long. Even with all the extra components, everything stacks fairly neatly and compact when you want to store it.
Included storage covers can stick you directly in the fridge without having to clean anything
Two glass containers are included-a large container of 3.8 liters/4 liters and a smaller 1.4-liter/6 cup. Extra sizes can be purchased separately. Both are supplied with fixed plastic handles and feet that cannot be removed. But you can remove the “crispy plate” that is designed to fit well in any container – a raised surface on which food rests while it boils, allowing the heated air to circulate.
The containers are safe, so you don’t have to worry about burning the table while you boil it. The Crispi cooking element itself is also safe to lie on the counter, thanks to rubber feet on every corner, even when it is actively fired for hours.
Performance and functions
- Four cooking modes
- Glass sides show you the cooking in progress
- Can be stored in a cupboard
For more than a week I have been cooking just about everything I could have been cooking in the Crispi, including pork carbonades, fries, a whole chicken and even chocolate cookies – basically everything you might want to consume crispy, as the name suggests.
As usual with Ninja products, there is a learning curve here, but with the Crispi it is a very shallow. The device has only four cooking modes – baking, air bite, Recravven and Max Crisp – each corresponding to a series of temperatures and fan speeds. But note that these are not adjustable as a standard oven is. (You also have to notice that a cheaper three-mode version of the Crispi can occasionally be for sale in the US, so make sure you get the one you want when you buy.)
The glass containers are particularly useful, because they show you how cooking is coming
To get started, select a mode, use the timer buttons to enclose the number of minutes you want to cook and start. The only real challenge is to find out which mode they should use – a choice that is partially powered by recipe, partly by trial and error.
Your food cooks underneath in the glass container, usually while resting on the appropriate crispy drawer. The glass containers are particularly useful because they show you how cooking comes by – and so you can look every thick drop in the drawer below, which at least offers hope that what you make is healthier than if you cook it in a pool of its own oil.
I did not reach a meal that I would consider a failure, although I asked the Crispi to cook even the smallest whole chicken I could find, there was a lot of questions. The chicken lasted about 70 minutes to cook completely and the skin never really broke in the way other items I prepared, although the meat was completely boiled and perfectly moist (and it also looked great on the camera).

Because of panko-pass cauliflower, my biggest success-soft and crispy outside was probably, in just 15 minutes and even the cookies I baked, one by one, were excellent, who only needed 4 or 5 minutes to cook (although they looked a little burned).

Cleaning up is also easy with the Crispi, because anything but anything but the heating element can go in the dishwasher. I thought that debris was sometimes caught in the small space between the glass and the plastic base – a complaint that I also read online – but my dishwasher could perfectly clean it up in my tests. However, pleasant use can tell a different story.
Finally, when I finished using the use, the device was easy to store, unlike a traditional air fryer that is probably intended to stay on the counter.
Price and availability
The Crispi comes in three color options: stone, sage and cyber blue.
In the UK it is available at a number of retailers, including Amazon, AO” Argos and Ninja itself for £ 179.99. In the US you can buy it at Amazon and NinjaRetailers, among others, for $ 179.99.
This makes it cheaper than one of Ninja’s other top air fractures, although it is still much more expensive than most other rivals. For the function set it is a good buy: you will not find any other portable modular air fryse. But keep in mind that one area in which it cannot compete with most models is the cooking capacity.
Do you have to buy the Ninja Crispi?
The Ninja Crispi is more expensive than other air fritents of its size, which are usually available for more than £ 100/$ 100. If you are the type of person, that just wants to throw some wings in a basket occasionally and do not have to think about the rest of the cooking cycle, a traditional air fryse will probably be of service to you.
However, the Crispi offers a slightly different value proposition, and I think chefs at home who want a little more real-time insight into and control over their cooking will benefit from the glass cooking ships of Crispi. But even if you are not a budding Gordon Ramsey, everyone will appreciate the counter-resistant design, easy clean-up and especially the fact that the Crispi does not need a permanent place on your countertop.
The best of all is that it also cooks exceptionally well. I know I will lean on it for months and years for air -baked dinners.
