Nissan Patrol reaches an important milestone in Australia

More than a quarter of a million Nissan Patrols were supplied in Australia, while a new generation model awaits in its wings.

Nissan Australia celebrates the delivery of his 250,000th Patrol to a local owner, achieved 64 years after the first example was sold here in 1961.

The Australian arrival of the patrol came 10 years after Nissan launched his answer to the Willys Jeep in Japan, initially life began as a hardcore utilitaire vehicle before evolving to a comfortable, everywhere family cruiser.

In 1962, a G60 Nissan Patrol was the first vehicle to cross the Simpson desert, while the off-road bravery was further cemented when the Late Les Siviour 15 consecutive Australian Off-Road Championship 4WD-Productieklas Titles of the Production Class won today.

The GQ Patrol of Nissan was launched in 1987, which brought coil springs, which improved comfort, which broadened its attraction.

The arrival of the GU in 1997 continued the patrol on a process of success, and it remained one of the popular large SUVs in Australia next to the Toyota Landcruiser.

The patrol achieved an annual record of 14,192 deliveries in 1998, consisting of the ‘Wagon’ SUV that we still see today, as well as Cab/Chassis and UTE versions.

The current generation of Y62 Patrol came to local showrooms in 2013 and threw away diesel force in favor of a 5.6-liter gasoline V8.

In 2023, the local coordination company Princar – born from the downfall of Ford Performance Vehicles – launched the Patrol Warrior, the most hardcore version of the SUV that was sold in local showrooms.

Although the Y62 is in the tooth for a long time, more patrols have been delivered this year than the Landcruiser 300 series, although the latter was launched at the beginning of 2022.

“Few models reach the status of the legend, and even less that legacy are still cementing nowadays, but that is exactly what the patrol has achieved about each of his generations in Australia,” said Nissan Oceania Vice president and director Andrew Humberstone in a media statement.

“Last year, Nissan Australia saw his best sale on record for the Y62 Patrol and register the best sale for the patrol -name plate since 2004. That momentum continues, where the patrol reached number one in its segment for the last three months.

“What makes this milestone very useful is how Australia has formed the patrol. The best example of this is now in Nissan-Showrooms-de Patrol Warrior per Premcar. It is a patrol founded for Australians, in Australia.

“Although we like to consider the patrol as legendary, all owners are also their stories, memories and adventures that the legend of Patrouille has formed in Australia and continue to do so today.”

Nissan’s Y63 Patrouille is on the road, but it only comes here until 2027.

The Y63 Feeding is a 3.5-liter Twin-Turbo-Benzine-Benzine V6, which produces 317 kW power and 700 Nm of torque-a healthy increase on the 298 kW/560NM outputs of the Y62.

Extra head changes include an automatic transmission with nine gears, standard air suspension and the most advanced cabin ever seen in a patrol in Australia.

It is not only going against the Landcruiser 300 series, but also the GMC Yukon, the SUV Twin-Under-the-Skin of the Chevrolet Silverado, because of starting deliveries this year.
