Kamala Harris, as San Francisco DA, as Senator And in her run for the 2020 Democratic prez nomination, she supported the decriminalization of prostitution — and won’t say whether she has changed her mind about this crazy idea.
Well, that’s a flip-flop she doesn’t have officially yet made.
That’s a shame, because like all soft-on-crime positions, this would be legally and morally disastrous, especially when combined with the tidal wave of illegal immigration that she has played a central role in unleashing.
And she is clearly keeping quiet for tactical reasons, refusing request after request from this newspaper for a simple clarification of her current positions.
The whole sordid affair points to what is by far the most troubling thing about Harris’ current candidacy.
No one has any idea what she really believes.
Look at the story of “gender reassignment operations for illegal immigrants.”
Harris in 2019 clearly, openly and unequivocally supported Uncle Sam paying to perform gender reassignment surgery on border jumpers detained in ICE facilities.
When Donald Trump confronted her about this during their debate, the campaign responded with a word salad suggestive she has changed her mind, but does not state it clearly or provide any details about her current position.
Or look at a much larger-scale problem: fracking.
Again: Harris previously said unequivocally that she was in favor of a ban.
Now?
Apparently she’s fine with it, but there’s little reason to believe this is anything other than a desperate attempt to win Pennsylvania, where the issue looms large.
Last week she announced that she is in favor of holding Israel hostage by freezing military aid until the country agrees to a ceasefire (i.e. surrender to Hamas).
How long before she flops on that too?
And on and on.
Most likely, Harris will always cling to her roots in San Francisco’s political machine: her is the radical who shows her entire past to be what she is.
Not the strict but sensible moderate that her campaign and her media lapdogs are now trying to sell her.
Despite her inability to formulate a meaningful answer to any question without a teleprompter, Harris clearly realizes that supporting far-left policies – such as gender reassignments for illegals – is a short route to electoral disaster.
So she plans to stay downtown until Election Day.
Maybe she can get away with it, since most of the media has no interest in holding her feet to the fire – quite the opposite.
In other words, she is Schrödinger’s candidate.
We won’t do that know whether she’s a far-left extremist or a middle-of-the-road Dem, unless we vote her out.
It certainly sounds to us like an attempt to undermine democracy by misleading America.
But remember: Donald Trump is the real “threat.”
