After so many movies and series have exploited the theme of blood-sucking monsters, it takes some guts to make a vampire movie. We’ve seen it all: the gothic Interview with the Vampire, YA productions Twilight, the gory True Blood and the art house Only Lovers Left Alive. It felt like pop culture had drained the vampire narrative forever.
However, Robert Eggers decided to return to the roots of the vampire genre. For his latest film he chose a remake of Nosferatu – Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s 1922 silent film and an unauthorized adaptation of Dracula by Bram Stoker. Eggers, the creator of dark period dramas with a horror slant such as The Witch, Lighthouse and The Northman, seemed like the right person for such a job. To achieve this, he assembled a unique cast, including Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Emma Corrin.

The horror is currently available exclusively in cinemas.
In the US, for example, tickets are available at AMC Theaters.
In the UK you can secure your seats via the Vue, Showcase, Odeon or Cineworld websites.

When could Nosferatu be released on VOD?
In the United States, Nosferatu is distributed by Focus Features, the same company behind Robert Eggers’ previous film, The Northman. The story of the Viking warrior and his path to revenge arrived on VOD just three weeks after it opened in theaters. Despite The Northman performing well in 2022, it is nowhere near the box office success of Nosferatu.
The vampire story has already earned more than $100 million worldwide, becoming one of Focus (and Robert Eggers) most profitable films. Therefore, it is likely that the studio will not rush the film’s digital release. Based on its original cinematic release date of Christmas Day in the US, Nosferatu may release on VOD at the earliest at the end of January.
In Britain, the film debuted in theaters a week after its American premiere, which may also delay its release on VOD. We estimate that Nosferatu may arrive on the services in the first half of February 2025.
When can Nosferatu be released on streaming services?
As a film distributed by Focus Features in the US, a division of Universal Pictures owned by NBCUniversal, Nosferatu will likely appear on Peacock. However, it is currently unknown when that will happen.
The Northman arrived on streaming more than six weeks after its cinematic release. Conclave and The Bikeriders, recent Focus hits, arrived in theaters on Peacock seven weeks after opening. Nosferatu could follow that pattern and move to streaming in the US around February 11, 2025.
Peacock films are usually available on Sky and Now in the UK, but we’re not sure if this is the case for Nosferatu.

When could Nosferatu be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
The physical copies of Eggers’ film will likely be released last. However, you won’t have to wait long once the film is released digitally: Focus films usually appear on DVD and Blu-ray on streaming services shortly after release.
If our predictions above are correct, we could see Nosferatu on DVD/Blu-ray from the end of February 2025.
