NXTHVN is pleased to announce the opening of its annual open call for Studio and Curatorial Fellows. Founded in 2018 by Titus Kaphar and Jason Price, NXTHVN was designed with the core purpose of building an alternative model of arts mentorship and career acceleration through a specially designed curriculum. Every year, NXTHVN welcomes up to seven artists and two curators to participate in the paid, ten-month intensive fellowship program. The application is open until March 3, 2025.
Each fellow receives studio or office space, a stipend and subsidized housing. Selected from an international pool of applicants, fellows move to New Haven to participate in NXTHVN’s mentorship-focused curriculum, which includes professional development sessions led by visiting artists, curators, scholars and practitioners. Fellows are paired with a high school student for focused one-on-one mutual learning, giving the next local generation the opportunity to thrive and excel in creative fields. The fellowship year concludes with an annual group exhibition in a prominent gallery space.
Through active participation in NXTHVN’s yearlong programs, aspiring artists and curators make personal steps and interpersonal connections that advance their careers. NXTHVN provides the foundation for artists and curators to emerge from the fellowship program as active professionals who aim to make an important contribution to art and culture through their creative work.
